Electric Vehicles are covered under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Automobile and Auto Components.

Govt. Initiatives

FAME, Vehicle Scrappage Policy, PM-eBus Sewa scheme, CAFE regulations. GST on EVs slashed from 12% to 5%. GST on chargers/charging stations for EVs reduced from 18% to 5%. Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH)'s decision to give green license plates to battery operated vehicles and to exempt from permit requirements.

Infrastructure

EV charging being a "service" as per Ministry of Power, charging point operators need not register under the Electricity Act 2003. Cost of supply by DISCOMs to a public EV charging station shall be 0.8 times ACoS during solar hours and 1.2 times ACoS during non-solar hours. 34 km/day National Highway Construction in 2023-24. 6%/year growth in electricity installation capacity.
